Boondocking in the Badlands has changed. Originally you could put your camper or tent in any spot along the Badlands Wall. There are now camping only spots marked by a US Forest sign. You are not suppose to camp anywhere else and there are numerous signs marking no vehicles allowed. There are rumors going around that there will be in the end, once it is set up and done only 70 spots available at any given time. This will greatly reduce the possible sights available but also the chaos and excess campers that on any given day can flood the area. If you get there before 3 pm your chances of getting a spot are much better, and it seems most campers leave by 11 am the next day.
