Centennial Trail - Samelius to Flume

What you need to know:

Length - The Map says 7.0 but is closer to 6.0

Water - None until you get to Sheridan Lake

Water crossings - none

Camping - Camping is available at sheridan lake. anywhere else Black Hills National Forest Camping rules apply - Setting up your own campsite away from developed fee sites is allowed on most of the Forest for a maximum of 14 days in any 60-day period. However, around developed reservoirs and campgrounds, camping is allowed only in designated areas. General rule: Camp 100 feet away from any road, stream, or trail and 1/2 mile away from developed sites.

Trail condition - The trail is well defined and easy to follow. this is one of the most scenic sections of the centennial trail but you pay for the views by a steep climb up to the top of Mount Warner. excellent views of black elk peak and the southern hills. as you descend the peak, sheridan lake can be seen.

Trail starts south of the Samelius Peak Trail marker near South Highway 16. Make sure you start here and not the other trail which is gated.
