Winterville Recreation Path

The Winterville Recreation Path also known as the Spearfish Path is an easy paved, handicapped accessible path that starts in Spearfish Canyon and goes to the town of Spearfish. It passes the disc golf course, and the historic hydro electric plant. At Winterville Drive you can take either the north side of the creek or the south side of the creek. I recommend taking the south side for starters. You then continue and enter the Spearfish City Campground, then the D.C. Booth Fish Hatchery. If you keep going you hit the Spearfish City Park and then Indian Springs. If you want to keep walking and go to town for some food or a drink that is right around the corner. On the way back I recommend walking next to the river and then crossing over at the Spearfish City Campground and taking the north side of the river back to your car. It is quite a hike and you can make it longer by doing the different hikes in the DC Booth Hatchery if you choose.

Park in this large parking lot right by the beginning of the path off Spearfish Canyon Road.
