Rimrock Trail Upper Loop
The Upper Loop Rimrock Trail is a fun and beautiful loop trail in Spearfish Canyon, South Dakota. It starts out following the road and once it crosses the road, there is a pretty steep uphill climb. Once you get to the top it follows a very easy path through the forest which is absolutely beautiful in the fall. The loop then heads downhill where it follows the stream and Roughlock Falls Road. It crosses the road a couple of times and takes you behind the Timon’s Campground back to the beginning of the trail. The trail is around 4.7 miles, and you can combine it with the Lower Loop Rimrock Trail for a total of 6.3 miles.
Beginning of the trail - Lets go…..

Cross the road and the uphill begins.
Up you climb for a little bit straight up.
Gorgeous fall colors. On top - very peaceful walk.
Love this section.
This is where we turn to the right.
Now becomes part of the Tinton Trail as well.
Turn here to continue on the Upper Loop Rimrock Trail.
Start to go back downhill.
Can see the Rod and Gun Campground.
Follows the creek.
Old cellar which is pretty cool.
You cross the road a couple of times and on this section even walk the road back a bit to find the trail on the other side.
Can see the Timon Campground - getting close to the end.
Made it. Walk through this gate and close to the end.
