Meridian Bridge

The Meridian Bridge in Yankton, South Dakota was officially dedicated on October 11, 1924. The bridge has undergone several rehabilitation projects over the years and finally closed its doors to traffic. The bridge later underwent conversion to bike and pedestrian use, and in November of 2011 was opened for recreational use. Running, walking, or biking across the bridge is fun especially since you can do it anytime of the day or night and there are 2 walkways - upper and lower deck. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in May 1993.
