Driving Around In Custer State Park

Driving around in Custer State Park you see some really cool things. Get off the main road if you are able to and there are more options to see different wildlife. During the winter, there is limited traffic, and sightings are a lot more common.

By the Visitor’s Center.

On Highway 36 - just east of the park’s entrance.

Saw these two elk on the side of the road just east of Custer, South Dakota. A rare find.

Taken west of the State Game Lodge along the road.

S. Playhouse Road by the Black Hills Playhouse.

Deer and turkeys along the roadway just west of State Game Lodge.

The Black Hills Playhouse has plays during the summer months.

Sign and picnic area is just west of Blue Bell Campground.

Hard to see but saw 12 elk just west of the State Game Lodge. They were by the road, but took off immediately. Got only a picture of one.

Two eagles close to Wildlife Loop Road on LH Road just east of the park.

Saw 3 coyotes going on a back road between Custer State Park and Wind Cave - Cap 7 Road.
