Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup
This year - 2025 was the 60th anniversary of the buffalo roundup in Custer State Park. Every year thousands of people come from all over the country to witness this great event and tradition. This year there were around 1400 buffalo rounded up and around 20,000 to 25,000 people to witness the event. The event is huge for Custer State Park and there are many other activities to enjoy while in the park like a craft and vendor show, chuckwagon suppers, hayrides, guided trail rides, music, and more. The roundup in Custer State Park is done every year to sort and treat one of the world’s largest American bison herds. The event is free and a state park pass is not required for entry on the day of the roundup.
