Crazy Horse Monument Volksmarch
The Crazy Horse Monument Volksmarch is in June and sometimes in September. It is one day where you have the ability to walk to the top of the mountain and get up close with the carving of Crazy Horse. To get in they ask for food donations, and you pay a small fee to do the hike. In June of 2025 it was 3 canned goods per person, and $4.00 fee to hike. They give you two options - a 10K and a 5K. We opted for the 10K and in reality is was just a little under 4.5 miles. On top of that you have to find a parking spot and we walked quite a ways down the road, but if you wait they offer free bus shuttle. This is an amazing event and something you should do at least once in your lifetime if able.
