Blessed Sacrament Hike
The Blessed Sacrament hike is on the hill behind the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Rapid City, South Dakota. It starts right on the west side of the church and is easy to locate. It is a pretty easy hike but it does go uphill the whole way and has some stairs. It is not handicapped accessible and may be hard for those that are unsteady on their feet. It goes to a beautiful cross and has a great view of Canyon Lake Park and the gazebo. While there I saw an eagle and crane flying by along with all the geese at the park. It was very peaceful.
Can see the cross in the background.
Destination.
Stairs right in the beginning.
I would take the trail to the left - better maintained.
Up you go. Saw an eagle and crane from this spot right away.
Nice place for a break if needed.
Crosses all along the pathway.
Interesting.
Gorgeous view.
Crane on the left in the picture loved this spot. Kept going back to it.
Crane flying away.
Walking back on the same pathway for a bit. Once you get to the cross the path ends.
At this bench you can go back the way you came, or try a rockier way down which goes to the left.
I took the rocky pathway back.
Harder pathway - rocky steps.
Not as well maintained, and I could see rattlesnakes being here in the summer.
Almost to the parking lot.
Saw this eagle from the parking lot.
Away he goes.
