American Legion Memorial Bridge
The first portion of the American Legion Bridge, originally called the Chamberlain Bridge, was constructed in 1925. The bridge was then dedicated on September 25, 1925. The bridge provided a narrow, 2 lane deck suitable for traffic in the 1920s and 1930s, but by 1950, the traffic had increased and the bridge was no longer adequate. A new bridge was relocated just east of the bridge that still today handles all the traffic on Interstate 90. That bridge opened in 1953, and is called the Lewis and Clark Memorial Bridge. The American Legion Memorial Bridge AKA - Chamberlain Bridge is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
